Understanding the Four Major Trading Sessions
The forex market operates 24 hours a day during the trading week, moving through four major financial centers. Each session has it's own characteristics, and the amount of trading activity changes as different regions enter and leave the market.

Sydney Session
Where the trading week begins.
Sydney starts the global trading week. Activity often involves Australian and New Zealand currency pairs. Trading can be quieter than London or New York, although regional news can still create significant movement.

Tokyo (Asian) Session

One of the busiest sessions.

Why Trading Volume Matters
Market activity changes throughout the day. More traders and higher trading volume can mean more liquidity, tighter spreads, and greater price movement. But a busy market can also be riskier, so it's important to learn how your market moves at your trade time.

When Is the Best Time to Trade?
There isn't one perfect time to trade, but certain periods are more active. The London and New York overlap typically has the most trading activity and liquidity.
The best trading time depends on your market, strategy, and the type of movement you're looking for.

Futures Trading Hours: Almost Always Open
Popular CME stock-index futures, including NQ, MNQ, ES, and MES, generally trade nearly 23 hours a day, five days a week.
These markets have a scheduled daily maintenance break. The regular US stock market opens at 9:30 AM Eastern Time, an important period for traders watching stock-index futures.

Can You Trade Stocks 24 Hours a Day?
Traditional US stock-market hours are 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Some platforms also offer premarket, after-hours, and overnight trading in eligible securities. Availability, liquidity, and trading conditions vary.
Daylight Saving Time Changes
